UPDATE

Over the past several months I have been working on this quarter sized model of the large public sculpture.  This model is 51 inches tall and is made in a very similar manner to how I plan to make the large one.  The fork and pierogi are cast in bronze and the base is a steel frame clad in limestone panels.  52 names of foods from around the world that are made in a manner similar to a pierogi - 13 on each side - are engraved in these panels and painted black.

Materials in the base will probably change as I would like to use a natural Minnesota stone, but otherwise the final product will look nearly exactly like this only four times the size.

This model - a finished sculpture itself - was recently shown at the 100th Anniversary Fine Arts Show at the Minnesota State Fair.  It will bo on display in the Twin Cities Fine Arts Organization “Art on the Town” exhibit at Minnesota Center for Book Arts from Sept 15 through Jan 8.

Afterward it will be placed in the dining room at Kramarczuk’s Deli in Northeast Minneapolis.
